The Marvin Gaye Experience
Arguably one of the most influential singer/songwriter/producers of his generation, Marvin Gaye’s enigmatic life journey has indelibly impacted music’s landscape soulfully, politically and conceptually creating a space for new subgenres that would grow to be the formats of Quiet Storm and Neo-Soul. As an artist who was vastly influenced by the life and music of the former Grammy Lifetime Achievement award winner, R&B Neo-soul singer Case narrates this self-adapted one man show depicting the man, his musical legacy and the parallels that intertwine the two musical visionaries.
Soliloquized over the backdrop of a live full musical band, Case introspectively recreates moments in the life and times of the Trouble Man singer that explore the makings of a legend and how Gaye’s fight for his artistic freedom created a catalytic shift in music and even more personally, how the same themes of artistic expression, love, drugs and emotional turmoil are relevant in the life and music of the latter star as well. From being a session singer for the likes of Chuck Berry to the early Motown years of writing for acts including the Marvelettes, the Miracles and Jimmy Reed up to the ground-breaking “What’s Going On” album, Case conceptualizes his journey with respect to the influence of his music idol.
Case: The Marvin Gaye Experience will pull the audience into a nostalgic voyage wrought with stories that range from comical to heart wrenching tragedy while revisiting some of Marvin’s greatest hits in addition to incorporating new music from Case as well. A dynamic one man show, paying homage to one of the greatest entertainers of all time, who just like legendary entertainers including Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr. and Stevie Wonder kicked down barriers through music and left an indelible imprint on the fabric of the world beyond the art by merely sharing his soul with the world.
The 90 min show will feature: Original and licensed music, Skits, testimonials and surprise guests who may have performed with or been apart of that era as well as share the same love & respect for the posthumous iconic singer.

About Marvin Gaye
Born in 1939, in Washington, D.C., Marvin Gaye sang in his father's church and in the Moonglows before signing with Motown. He recorded songs by Smokey Robinson before becoming his own producer on the protest album What's Going On (1971). Gaye's later records developed his production style and yielded several hits, including "Let's Get It On," "Sexual Healing" and "I Heard it Through the Grapevine." Gaye was killed in 1984 during a domestic dispute with his father.
Throughout his childhood, Gaye often found peace in music, mastering the piano and drums at a young age. Until high school, his singing experience was limited to church revivals, but soon he developed a love for R&B and doo-wop that would set the foundation for his career. In the late 1950s, Gaye joined a vocal group called The New Moonglows.
The talented singer had a phenomenal range that spanned three vocal styles and he soon impressed the group's founder, Harvey Fuqua. It wasn't long before Gaye and Fuqua both came to the attention of Detroit music impresario Berry Gordy Jr. and were signed to Gordy's legendary Motown Records.
